Poquoson (pronounce /pəˈkoʊsən/) is an independent city located on the Virginia Peninsula, in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 11,566. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Poquoson with surrounding York county for statistical purposes.
