The Illinois Lottery is run by the government of Illinois. The lottery was founed in 1973, when U.S. lotteries were confined to the Northeast and the Midwest. Televised drawings are based at the studios of Chicago's WGN-TV, and occur twice daily, at 12:40pm and 9:20pm during that station's newscasts under the supervision of the accounting firm of McGladrey & Pullen. Illinois is the only current lottery to have their non multi-state drawings televised nationwide (via WGN America).
